i just recently bought a brand new 1tb hard drive for my old comp im replacing in a few days with. i was getting that hard drive failure error so i had to replace it.
My question is with a new 16gb 2 8s of ripjaw ram, 4690k i5 and a MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard along with
Rosewill CHALLENGER - Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower.
should i invest in a better storage device? the 1 Tb is fine ...but how bout disktranfer rate? is that effected by the HD itself? I also dont mind the boot up time of a non ssd. just want good gaming performance and great disk transfer rate.

If you get a WD Black or another 7200 RPM drive you will pretty much get the best performance of any drive unless you go with an expensive 10k or 15K drive which I don't think 15K's are sata they are SAS or SCSI,

As long as you don't have any information that you dont need, in other words if the data didn't matter if it just went up in flames, you could get like 2 500/1TB's and do a RAID 0 if you need the speed. Only thing is if something happens again everything is lost.
