If you are trying to do 4K video at 60Hz, you need to use a HDMI 2.0 cable. Alternatively, you can use a DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 cable. You have 3 DP ports, and only 1 HDMI port on the back of the GTX 970 card.

HDMI 1.4 cables only support up to 30Hz at 4K.

I have a GTX 970 and Samsung 4k TV. I tried a redmere cable that states it uses the 1700 chipset that apparently supports 4k @ 60hz. I created a short video of it here.

Long Story short. It works.

As long as you have two compatible devices, i.e source device and display and a 18gbps cable your setup should work without a problem. Though, always make sure you have the the latest drivers for your card.
