I just had a new Directv Genie HD DVR Receiver installed in my home today replacing an about 10 year old receiver. Previously I had the old receiver wired so that what was showing on that receiver/tv was able to be viewed on a TV in another room. Since this changeover - it is no longer working. Is there something I can do? Or is this newer equipment designed to prohibit that from happening?

A splitter off the output you are using should work. Unless they are measuring the exact load on the wires past the output I don't see how it can be blocked from that.
