Motherboard to front panel connections

Hi. So I recently migrated my dell xps 8700 to a phanteks enthoo pro. And I connected my front panel into the 11 pin I/0 slot right below where the gpu goes. I connected it the same way you would a 9 pin slot but I keep getting a buzzing nose when I plug my headphones into the output Jack. Did I plug my audio leads to the wrong pins? If so how do I do it properly? (There are no diagrams on Google)

you mean the power, reset, hdd led etc cables

if so number 15 on that diagram but will have to look really closely at the board to see where each one goes

Yeah. I just assumed that the audio jacks go with it. I also assumed it went into 18 since that was labeled "f_panel"

sorry 15 was a typo doing too many things at once--18 for power, reset, hdd led etc cables

23 for audio

So theoretically, the buzzing would stop if I moved my audio jack connection to 23? That's the only problem I have.

Ok I had it wrong. The audio cable was going to slot 23 the whole time. :p sorry. But the buzzing still occurs. I tried lowering the audio quality. But that doesn't help. I've read that installing a dedicated sound card helps. Thoughts?

I never used them before. I never had a need to.

not familiar with dells but other than getting a sound card

only other thing i can think of look in the bios for a disable onboard sound option

vaguely recall some older pc bios having something like that

if there is one make sure onboard audio is enabled

I'm not at home but I'll try that. Remind me how to enter the bios again? I've only done it once.

Everything is on and still no change. How does a dedicated sound card cancel the buzzing? I read that it does but how does it work?

Gotcha. I'm also getting a headphone extender to reach the back panel. Isolating the cord to the sound port hasn't worked. Isolating any devices that cause magnetic interference didn't work. I have wireless headphones but they can be choppy and cut out sometimes. :
