Hello, I've been a console player for years, and I'd like to move to pc gaming by next year. So, I'm looking to build a pc that can handle Skyrim at ultra settings with mods. I'm talking about high graphics mods and some realistic scenery mods. My budget is $700-to-$800, but I'm willing to go a little further.

Here's a video of what I'm trying to achieve:

Solution
No one can garantee you on what kind of FPS you can hit with mods.. They are the most unpredictable thing and next to no one's situation will be the same. What we can do is give you a build which is the best bang for your buck and will also be high-texture friendly.

This build should be able to do a lot more than what you are asking

A mid range CPU cooler would add about $30-50, depending on what model you get.

I would stick with the R9 390 suggested by MasterDell, as it is equal/better than the GTX 970 for less $, and the 8GB of VRAM will definitely help if you want to run lots of mods.

if you can wait till dec or latter for your build you get better parts for about the same cost. the newer skylake cpu will be at a good stock level and nvidia nad amd are dropping newer 14mm gpu in 2016. nvidia has tapped out there pasca GPU and it should be out in the first few months of 2016.

The 390 would be better than the 970 in this case due to the mods you will be running. They perform about the same @ 1080p in most games but if you will have lots of mods then the 390 would definitely be better.

Mid range CPU cooler would be $20-$30 by the way. Anything above that would be stupid for a non-overclockable CPU.

Thanks for the suggestion MasterDell. Though I changed the budget to $900. Felt that was a better idea then the said $700-to-$800. So, what can a budget of $900 get me in regards to a gaming pc. Also, I'm going to be running high graphics mods.

I would bother with liquid cooling. It's louder and less reliable and in your case, useless.

Remember, you have to buy an OS.
