[Problem] Relatively new build does not post once a week

Hey guys, new here but I've seen a lot of good advice and discussion come out of these forums so I wanted to see if anyone could help with a new computer my friend and I built over the summer. I am a first time builder whereas as my friend is a veteran and has worked computer repair before. We built this computer in June 2015.

I have already gone through the checklist, here are details on my build:

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K quad-core 4.0 Ghz
Ram: 4 x 8Gb G.SKILL Sniper Series
GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970
PSU: CORSAIR HXi HX850i CP-9020073-NA 850W ATX12V

Problem:

When we first booted up the computer, it was fine. For the next boot up or two it was fine. But then the computer would not POST. And it's been like that ever since that first week when we made the computer in June 2015. The computer works fine usually but about once a week the computer decides not to POST. What solves this each time, without fail, is cycling the power. Sometimes I have to cycle the power with nothing attached to the computer other than just the power cord but cycling the power always fixes the problem.

In trying to solve the problem, my friend did a memtest on the RAM and found all 4 x 8Gb of it to be running fine. In testing the PSU, we found it to be faulty and RMA'd and replaced it with the same kind - this one was working correctly though and outputting the correct voltage. However, the problem persisted.

When the computer decides not to POST, the monitor of course does not show anything. However, sometimes cycling the power the first time afterwards gets the computer to POST but in "starting windows" the computer freezes and does not proceed forward. Holding the power key and shutting down manually like that and then rebooting causes a lack of POST. So this is why sometimes I have to cycle the power once or twice before my computer works completely fine.

I'm not sure if it's relevant to the problem but sometimes when the computer POSTs but freezes at starting windows, I get a blue screen error of "whea_uncorrectable_error". I have separately troubledshooted into that error message but have found nothing that has fixed this problem.

It's been a couple months and I have lived with this occasional problem but have found it to be rather annoying so I was hoping someone would be able to help out.

Again, in case the above was confusing:

When I boot up my machine:
70% of the time it boots fine
20% of the time it does not POST but cycling the power fixes it
8% of the time it POSTs but freezes at "Starting Windows", but cycling power fixes
2% of the time it POSTs but freezes at "Starting Windows" and then blue screens with error "whea_uncorrectable_error", but hard shut down and cycling power fixes

If anyone can help me out and point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate that. I'm pretty sure all of my parts are still under warranty so I can RMA things if need be (although I'll be a bit nervous to take apart my computer since my friend did most of the building the first time and he's not around here anymore).

Thanks so much guys!

I am running on stock speeds and my current BIOS version/date is American Megatrends Inc. 2303, 3/2/2015 (I'm not sure if this is the most current UEFI/BIOS). And I'm not sure how to check if the XMP profile is enabled or not. Likely not because I'm running with run-of-the-mill settings. I chose not to overclock or any of that. Can you tell me how to check just to be sure though?

XMP Profile is disabled.

Ok. How was your RAM checked, meaning what method/software was used? Also, what are you using for storage drive(s)? Also, you may want to download a program called BlueScreenView. This will check if you have any minidump logfiles. You can also upload your file to osronline to try to debug the info as well.

The RAM was checked using Memtest86. For drives, I'm using a Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SSD to hold my OS and drivers and a WD Black 4 TB HDD for storage and programs/applications.

I'll look into BlueScreenView, thanks for the advice!

Ah okay, I currently don't have any minidump files because it wasn't enabled on my computer. I have it enabled now so hopefully the next time I bluescreen into "Whea_uncorrectable_error" it'll give me something to work off of.

Okay, sorry I haven't posed anything in a while - it hasn't crashed in a while. Today my computer crashing while loading windows and gave me a blue screen error I've never seen before: Machine_Check_Exception, I let the Blue Screen run for a while because it said that it was "collecting some info and then we'll restart" but even after a good 30 minutes, it never progressed from 0% (as it never does progress when it's collecting info) so I had to force a restart. Unplugged the PC, cycled the power, and then plugged it back in and it restarted normally.
