I am in the need of hiring electrician to pull cat6 cables from various end points to a central point.

The cables being pulled are cat6 or cat6a. The maximum distance of an end point to the central point is approximately 100m. There are ends points with shorter distance to the same central point.

The electrician will also be responsible for terminating these cables.

There are approximately 40 cable runs. As mentioned before, some of them about 100m and others less.

Will the Electrician charge per length of the cables or will he charge by the hour?

What should I be looking for in this scenario?

Please advice. Cheers.

In most cases they charge per drop but if you have hard to install locations...like boring though concrete floors... they will charge more. The wire itself is a tiny part of the cost compared to the labor so generally the length of the drop is not a factor.

I would not just hire any electrician...even though in some place the building codes require them to have a electricians license. You want someone that has the equipment to certify the install...this is especially important if you are near the cable limits of 100m or you really are going to run cat6a. You would only run cat6a if you realistically though you might run 10g before you changed to moved to another location.

They should be able to give you a report that shows each...

They should be able to give you a report that shows each drop and all the test results. It avoids finding a problem months later and then trying to convince them it was a installation issue.
