The Gigabyte R9 390 8GB is only temporarily at 294 dollars so be quick if you decide to buy it. It is a great deal, better than any GTX 970 atm.

You can get a Gigabyte R9 390 for $270 right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125805&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Otherwise if you wanted a GTX 970, the cheapest one would be the Zotac GTX 970 for $310. I don't have any experience with Zotac, but knowing they are owned by the same company as Sapphire I would assume they are great cards.

Not even. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSDQzlKDYq4
Every game coming out right is optimized for NVIDIA so the 970 always manages to keep up despite it being worse on paper.

so instead of a great reviewed unit, you recommend an untested rosewill unit...

"gold" is meaningless if the actual components are garbage...

Just because it hasn't be reviewed doesn't mean it's garbage. I freely admit it's not the best and a step back from the awesome Capstone series. But if you are going to spend that much, you should be getting something more then bronze. There are others in that price range, cheaper even after rebate. (though that one is from thermaltake so I can hear you complaining already.) For me bronze units are when you want/need something cheap. There are enough Gold units out there to ignore bronze in most cases.
