hey i have a new PC without a optical DVD drive and i wanted to install a optical DVD drive from a prebuilt machine from like 2006 (i believe its a dell) but the problem is that the old machine has a virus in it. i was wondering if i took just the optical DVD drive from the older machine and put it into my new PC i just built will it effect any hardware issues like a virus,malware,Trojan,etc. any help?
Can i get a virus from a optical dvd drive?

nope a optical drive has no storage other than what is put in it (discs), so if you take the drive you will be fine.
