Hi all,

A website gives me a bonus of several story files. I want to store them on my usb instead of my laptop hard drive. Is there a way other than downloading each individual file to my hard drive, then saving them to USB? Can I transfer them from this website to my usb without decompressing them to the hard drive - just decompress them on my usb?

The files are ~200mb, my usb is 8gigs - if that is important.

well.. you can download them to your USB directly - then decompress them there.
why would that not be the obvious solution?

Just be aware.. even doing it as suggested - your PC may cache the files on your PC somewhere..so there may be a trace of what you have done.
Cant imagine it should be a problem.. unless these "stories" are actually something more nefarious.. computers are very good at leaving "paper trails"
Cheers

Hi yogji,

Yes that is the obvious solution but I did not know HOW to do that. I guess my question was not as clear as I thought it was.

They are zip files and I want to download them but I don't know how to get them directly to the usb instead of taking up my hard drive space. I guess I will just have to do it the hard way.

Thanks.

What? that's easy... if you use IE11 for example.. when you go to download a file you get the popup at the bottom of the screen saying do you want to Run, save or Cancel.. the "save" has a drop down where you can select "save As"... that will open a window where you can change where it will save the file.. so just save it directly to your USB.
