I want to run 4 stick of 16gb in an asus Maximus vii hero but it's rated for dual channel so I've heard that it will run the memory in dual channel. What does this mean exactly and will it still add up to 16gb or only use 2 of the slots giving me 8. Also if i get 16gb from this will it affect performance and if so how much? And I know this isn't related to this put can this motherboards Ethernet do internet speeds above 160 min/s? Thanks

The motherboard supports up to 32gb of ram so 4 stick of 16gb per stick is pretty pointless anyway. If you want to put in 16gb in total would that be fine,16gb would be seen whether that 2x8gb or 4x4gb.
For the system would 2x8gb be better,it gives an upgrade path, although mixing ram can give problems to say already, and it gives less strain on the memory controller which means less heat from the cpu.

Having dualchannel means that the buswidth of the ram that can be adressed goes from 64bit to 128bit,you have two channels that can be adressed at the same time, which should be faster.
