Hello again!
(this thread is a follow up of my previous one: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2801295/advice-computer.html )
I bought and installed the processor "Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E4700 (2M Cache, 2.60 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)" and now my PC is really slow (even more than before). I got thinking and I realised that the new processor is stronger, which means that it probably needs to use more power/resources (???) and since I have only 2GB RAM that might bottleneck my computer. Again, I think that that's the case, not sure what else it could be or im missing something...
Since I run win7 64bit on my computer and I have 2GB RAM, could that be a problem in of itself? What would the sweet spot be for my motherboard and my new processor? Would 4GB RAM cut it? Do I need more? Im using right now 2x1GB of "kingston pc2-5300 ddr2 333mhz". Maybe I need "quicker" RAM as well, dunno how I should tackle this mess really...
Oh and one more thing, I noticed that with the current setup (my specs I told earlier in this thread + the new processor) my used RAM can sometimes (with Firefox open and a couple of tabs loaded) shoot up to 1,8GB+ used of the 2GB! It can hold that a reasonable amount of time untill I close Firefox, but even then when its closed I use constantly 1,3GB at the very least. Usually it uses a bit more.
Also, I check my temperatures with Speccy (not often but sometimes) and the CPU usually sits around 65+ degrees Celsius in the above mentioned scenario (with Firefox open and a couple of tabs), thats a lot! Overall the temperature doesnt seem to be normal...
I honestly dont know what to do now, I guess I need more RAM anyway but the temperature problems bug me... I used the "pea-method" to apply thermal paste. I used the paste from the company that provides my internship, they gave me some to use myself. Im guessing if a proffessional company gives me thermal paste then I should not doubt the quality of that paste, right? Sigh...
I really hope someone can at least point me in the right direction for troubleshooting this issue since it has become exhausting dealing with it...
