Does capping frame rate increase GPU life expectancy?

Hello.

I just want to know if I cap a game's fps, will the GPU have a longer life expectancy?
I mean: Example: Capping CS:GO at 60 fps with, say, a GTX 980 Ti.

Thanks!

No, it wont make much difference. It probably wouldn't increase life expectancy if you frame cap. if you get over 100 fps then it means your graphics card is well up to the graphical demand of the game. If the temps are reasonably high though, then you could cap the fps at around 30 fps more than your monitor refresh rate, so the GPU wouldn't need to work as hard. Saying that though, the 980ti should be more than capable enough to handle high temps/fps, and would thermal throttle if temps got too high anyway.

Hope that helped

GPU's are tested to work at full load and automatically lower output well before any damage is being done.

You can cap at 60hz if your monitor is 60hz but there is always something to turn up such as 4k DSR if your performance is that good you might at well increase visual fidelity.

Absolutely right.

OP, components only get damaged when they overheat and they have built-in redundencies to tackle this. Unless you're recklessly adjusting the voltage through overclocking, nothing should go wrong.
