What's the best semi budget CPU mobo combo?

Hello,
I'm planning on buying a new CPU and with that a new motherboard.

So I'm doubting between a i5 4690k with the MSI z97s krait, and a fx 8350 with MSI 970A krait.

I want to be able to overclock.
And the only reason I would be going for the Intel combo is the onboard GPU. Because I will be adding a second screen in the future and then I can run that screen off the CPU GPU instead of my other GPU, to avoid decreasing gaming performance on my primary screen.

It will primarily be for gaming but also other lightweight tasks (tekst editing, internet browsing), no video editing.

My other parts:
Sapphire dual x r9 280x
Corsair xms3 ram
128 GB ssd
Corsair cx750 psu
1080p screen
Second screen: ~1080x1280 (not sure, but no full HD)

So what do you guys think, which is a better choice for me, will a second display on the 280x decrease the gaming performance more than when it's connected to the CPU?

Is this a good combo in general. Maybe you know a better (same price) amd apu combo. Please share you're thoughts.

Thanks in advance,

If you are using one screen for gaming and the other for monitoring temps, task manager, etc. I don't think it will make a very big difference. Still, I would go for the i5 4690k because it is more powerful than the fx 8350 and also you can run the second monitor from the integrated gpu (so it will not affect your primary gpu at all). Make sure to also get a good quality aftermarket cooler for the i5 so you can overclock (it will also improve temps.)

Thanks,
I think I'll be going for the i5 then. Do you think this motherboard is suitable for overclocking, or is a more expensive option (much) better.

However, I do own a different low-end GPU (HD 6450 or so). If I use that one for the second screen, I could go for the fx 8350.
The second screen will indeed be for a second task (instead of a game).
That way I will also have more money to spent on a cooler. So will this higher overclock be better than the i5.
And is in that case the 970A motherboard good enough?

Still, go for the i5. I would get a different Z97 motherboard because that one has only 6 power phases which is not that good for overclocking. Preferably with 12 power phases. e.g Asrock Z97 Extreme 4 or, if you want something more high end, go for the Asrock Z97 Extreme 6.

I understand.
I also don't really like the tdp and temperatures of the amd processors so I think I'll take the Intel.
I will take a look a power phases but it is near my budget so I'll see what the best option will be.
Thanks a lot.

Are you sure about that? I've always been told that you can run the IGPU OR a discreet GPU but NOT both.

I am sure. You can run the discrete gpu as a gaming card and the igpu to run the monitor.
