I have an AMD FX8350 CPU, it isn't overclocked, but it still has the stock fan, I'm wondering about 2 things; 1: Are my fan RPM's normal (they're typically between 4000 and 6000) and 2: what would cause it to fluctuate rapidly between 2 fan speeds, currently I'm monitoring it and every second or so, it changes between 5037 RPM and 5075 RPM, what could be causing this and what are the solutions?

Sounds normal. Yes, under a full load, the FX8350 fan will run those 4000-typically 5000 RPM speeds. If you're seeing 6000 RPM, there's a lot of heat inside your case and you should also invest in some more in/out fans for the case.

I very highly suggest an aftermarket cooler like the Hyper 212 Evo before that leafblower drives you crazy.

You might have set Fan Control in BIOS to something ridiculous like having the Fans run at 100%, download Speedfan, it tells you the temps of some of your PC parts and it allows you to set the fans speeds (assuming the stock fan has 4 pins)

Normally my CPU runs at 25C idle and around 50-60C under load, I don't know about the fan speeds in the BIOS, I haven't altered them and since I'm looking at upgrading my fan I'd rather not fiddle with them until I have that one
