So I'm having a problem that seems quite common "Display driver nvidia windows kernel mode driver version 355.82 has stopped working and recovered"

I'm exhausted of trying several suggested solutions in other threads that seem to have work for others but none of them worked for me.

Solutions tried,

1. Microsoft fix it. (Increasing respond delay to 8 seconds)
2. Updating drivers, uninstalling and installing old drivers. Tried 7 different driver versions.
3. Malware issues.
4. Adjusting settings in Nvidia control panel.
5. Check the temperatures to make sure the card is not overheating.

I have the gtx 960 is fairly new I just got it a 3/4 months ago, This problem started occurring about a week ago and I had not installed any new programs/drivers or added any new hardware to the computer.

The driver stops working right away when I open ANY game, and needless to say i don't play any high graphic games. Also once in a while it happens when watching a movie or youtube videos. The screen flashes and when it comes back on, the audio is gone and videos will play in slow motion. If it happens while playing a game, the game will keep running just fine but the audio is gone.

I have been using MSI afterburn and HW monitor to check the temperatures, I notice that the power goes up by a lot when the error occurs.

That's all the info I can share so far, plz help! :(

yea my bios is up to date and so is my WIndows, I made sure I had everything up to date.

I found a solution, but I'm not really at ease with it. I increased the voltage of the card and is working like a charm but I still want to know what caused the card to need more voltage just to play simple games like league of legends or watch youtube videos which shouldn't be pushing the card to the limit at all. If any1 has any solutions that would allow me to revert the voltage back to its original settings please share it.
