The ASRock H97 Anniversary first boot up - do I need to run the DVD?

My first startup on my new PC works. I'm getting the ASRock motherboard screen with the BIOs options and then the no boot device screen (I have yet to install Windows).

My question is, do I need to run the DVD that came with the motherboard or is it just a backup of the factory installed settings?

Thanks
Charles

First you boot into BIOS, then you configure the boot priority so that it will boot from the DVD drive to get the OS. If you have an SSD that you plan to use for your OS, I would (and do) leave all other drives disconnected, just to make sure that the OS goes to the right place.

After you have OS, you can then use the driver DVD disk to load those parts you need. I usually leave the things I will never use off of my SSD.
