Is Titan X Still the Best Single GPU?

Best GPU for what? The Quadro is better for a workstation card. The Titan X is better than the 980Ti with 12GB vRAM and is better for rendering. So no, it is not and never was the single best GPU.

I would say the Titan X is. Of course, it's totally not worth the money over the 980Ti unless you need the vRAM.

Impossible to answer as asked, without parameters. The titan-x is nvidia's current flagship, that's not contested, but when you consider that under differing conditions the titan-x has been outperformed by even a r9 270x, then saying 1 gpu is better than another gets rough. The r9 295x2 has been shown to have beaten the titan-x in several games at 4k resolutions, yet in other games a gtx980 beats the 295x2 quite handily, which was then also topped by the titan-x.
Damned good all around single card? Yes, easily the titan-x is at the top of the list, but there is no clear cut single card winner. Games, game engines, optimizations, tweaks etc make that an impossibility

If you look at the question it's asking about single best GPU. Not SLI. I suggest you don't answer question like these in the future because you don't know how to answer them. Questions like these aren't asking you for a suggestion or best bang for your buck. It's simply asking what is the single best GPU for gaming. It's so easy isn't it? But apparently not for you.

I am a aware there are certain cards may out perform another card depending on the situation, but I'm just looking for a general answer and you have answered it. That the Titan X is easily on the top of that list, generally speaking. And that was the answer I was looking for.

Ok, good. Now here's my question for you OP. At what resolution? The titan-x is a seriously powerful card, quite at home with 1440p, 2k, 4k resolutions, yet serious overkill at 1080p. At 1080p/60Hz there is absolutely no call for that kind of power. A plain Jane gtx980 single card can max out anything that's possible to max out. So a titan-x becomes absolutely useless overkill. 1080p - gtx980, 1440p - gtx 980ti, 4k - titan-x, for nvidia games, or 390x/fury x/295x2 for amd at same resolutions. Like I said, parameters. If you aren't 4k gaming, you don't need a titan-x, total waste of money.
My gtx970 max's every game I play, constant 60fps all settings ultra, even some dsp resolutions, and hasn't gotten over 51°C yet. That's $280 well spent. . Why I would need to spend $1200 for the exact same results, just to have a titan-x, would be borderline stupid.
