Well i want to watch movies in tv but i am new to that so i have some questions and i want your help to choise a good player.
Here is a few questions.
My tv do not support usb output. Can i connect my external hard disk to dvd player or bluray player direct via usb?
My hard disk having usb output and power output.
My tv having only 1 hdmi output, 2 scart output and some other outputs. I have a decoder mpeg4 in hdmi so what is the next best option to connect my player? Scart or someting else?

Sorry about that many questions i am new to that and i dont know many yet.
I want a player that can read my movies from my hard disk, can read subs and having scart output.
What is the best to buy dvd player or bluray player? Can you link me some players that can read my hard disk, subs and having scart output?

Solution
If they're integrated subtitles, there will be no problem.

If they're separate subtitles files, provided they are structured correctly - you shouldn't have an issue

I assume you mean your TV doesn't support USB 'input'? As you've listed the options available I'm assuming a simply USB input is out of the question.

Where are you located? You've listed Scart, so that could be anywhere in Europe, Asia or the UK?

Do you have anything else connected to your TV? A PS3/4, Xbox etc should all have the functionality to allow what you're looking to do.

My tv do not have usb input you are right my bad sorry.
Well i am from Europe and i plan to buy a dvd player or blu ray player from my country. I have to check something about scart before a buy a player?
I have connected in my tv a mpeg4 decoder in hdmi port and a old dvd player in scart port. That dvd player that i have do not support usb input so i cant connect my hard drive.
I do not have any devices like playstation or something else.
What is the best choice for me? Should i buy a dvd player or bluray player?
I search in google some players but i dont know if they support hard disk, subtitles and other things. How can i check things like that in a players that i found and i like them? I should contact the companies who make that players or i can check it with other way?
I am completely new at things like that so i dont even know where i should search to find what i want.

I can;t tell you 100% whether a DVD player or Bluray player is best for you......that'll entirely depend on whether you want to play Blurays or only DVDs in addition to having your Ext. HDD working.

I think you're going to need an HDMI to SCART adapter, as I'm not really aware of anything with SCART output these days (I could be wrong though).

I have one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00AZVJ1HW/ref=dp_olp_refurbished?ie=UTF8&condition=refurbished
It'll give you 'smart' functionality in your TV, along with allowing use of your USB.
It'll come with an HDMI output though, so unless you can free up your HDMI port on the TV, you'll need a something that'll convert the HDMI output to SCART for your TV.

Something like this:

Well i am looking about bluray players in google and you are right they all have hdmi outputs only so i think dvd player is better because most of dvd players they have scart output and usb input but i dont know who of them they can read a hard disk and subs.
Most of dvd players i check they have alot of video formats that they can read but they do not define in details if they can read a hard disk or subtitles.
There is a way that i can check details like that or i should contact their official support to ask details like that?

Don't bother with SCART - it does not provide for HD signal (and this is the reason why BluRay players do not have it). Stick to HDMI for all your future devices.

As for watching movies off USB hard drive - some modern BluRay / DVD players support it, but it you might have to re-encode your movies for best results.

Mostly i want to watch movies with subtitles if it cant read properly sub files then i should find another resolution.
I know about scart resolution but my tv have only 1 hdmi output and i have mpeg decoder connected there so i can watch tv.
Maybe i should find another solution or buy a new tv.
