I have asus f1a55-m lx plus mother board and AMD A-6 3500 APU.
I am using Windows 8.1 x64. I previously had 1 stick of 4 gb ddr3 1333 mhz memory, I bought a new ram of the same config i.e. ddr3 4gb 1333 mhz but when I connected both the rams, it didn't work, the screen would freeze! At first I thought it was because of the fact that the ram wasn't properly set in the slot so I made sure that it was perfectly set. I even tried to change the slots but still the problem was same. I then tried to use just my new RAM.. and the windows didn't boot, (showed some error that winload.exe is missing) but I was able to open the bios settings.

The funny thing is that the BIOS shows that I have installed a 4gb ddr3 1333mhz but my windows won't boot.

When I plugged my old RAM, without the new one, my PC booted.

please suggest something. is it wrong there something wrong with the new RAM??

whenever i couple the RAMs the screen freezes after 10-15 seconds.

Did you also get the same Latency & Voltage configuration Ram of your Old one??? If they don't match, then that is the Reason.
