Hello my dear PC gurus :), It's good to be back ! First of all I would like to thank you for helping with the upgrade of my unit a year ago and since then I've been recomanding these forums whenever my friends needed some help with their PCs.

Now the time has come for the PC Upgrade Season II. This time I'm buying myself 2x16GB 2400Mhz dual channel memory kit. In the short amount of time dedicated to parts research during my exausthing exam sesion I've come up with 2 choices :

Kingston HyperX Savage 2x8 16GB Kit
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-2400MHz-Non-ECC-HX324C11SRK2-16/dp/B00N9PVZ3O

Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x8 16GB Kit
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-2400MHz-Desktop-CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R/dp/B00EUPV2RQ

Now the PC spec and budget details :

CPU: i7 4790k 4.2 Mhz ( The main reason I'm upgrading the memory it's for this baby :3 )
MB : GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK ( http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4978#ov )
GPU: XFX 6950 2GB XXX Edition
PSU : Zalman 700W Bronze Certificate
Drive : Samsung 840 Evo 500GB SSD

MY BUDGET : 110 Euros

1) What I ask is : which one of the two is better for my spec and IF BY ANY CHANCE there's a better/cheaper 2x8 2400Mhz memory kit, BY ANY MEANS TELL ME ! :ouch:

2) Optional request : I'm confuzed about memory timings so please explain that when comparing my 2 kits or others. X-X-X-X at X.XX V that confuses me \(o_O)/

Both are 2400Mhz and CL11 so equally fast. You wont notice any difference so just go for which you like more in terms of design or is cheaper. Especially in gaming there is no difference.

For calculating the speed you can use a simple rule of thumb: CL/Mhz : 11/2400=0,004583 the lower the better.

But as you can see we're talking about the third digit after the comma so a difference of a few nanoseconds at most between new RAMs.

So the Hyper X has the timing of 11-13-14 while the Corsair has it's timing of 11-13-13 and statisticaly that means Corsair's better right ? ;)

I still won't mind other kit recomandations. The hardware universe fascinates me ! ^^

Statistifcaly yes. But i think that you wont even see any difference in RAM benchmarks. :D

I used G.Skill for my last and my current build and never had any problems. But i can't really compare them to other manufacturers. Using the G.Skill Ares right now also 2400Mhz CL11 i think. Went for the Ares series, because it's low profile. (cooler design is lower so you can fit big CPU coolers without hitting your RAM) :)
