AMD FX 8320 heat issue - help needed :(

I recently bought new PC with AMD FX 8320 3,5GHz CPU. Stock cooler was way too loud so I installed Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2. I expected to have quite low temps, but even with new cooler my web browsing CPU temp is between 35 and 50 Celsius, and gaming temp reaches 78 Celsius. I also run torture test with Prime 95 and after 3 or 4 minutes CPU temp reached 76 Celsius. Is it normal? Can I somehow crank up fan's speed? It seems to me that its speed is always the same. I didn't notice any change in its loudness at any point. It's very quiet all the time. Please help. Thanks.

Note: CPU is not overclocked
Note 2: I haven't removed what was left of old thermal paste (stupid mistake, but I don't think it can be of such dramatic influence, or can it?)

Solution
if there are air gaps in the thermal compound it will leave hot spots on the CPU. It's really important to have the compound evenly distributed over the entire contact surface.

According to this review those results are Normal.
But to be on Safe side Re-apply Thermal Paste & Double Check your CPU cooler proper Installation.

Thanks for the tip and reassurance guys. I have cleaned and reapplied thermal paste as shown on some youtube videos just to be sure. My temp readings are more or less the same and i guess AMD FX 8320 just normaly works on up to 80 Celsius when fully loaded. To be honest, I expected significant temp drop with Arctic Freezer 7 Pro instead of stock cooler, but it seems all i got is laptop like quiet PC with no change in temperature readings. So, mixed feelings here.

I am sorry, I am late to respond.

The Arctic Freezer 7 Pro is only a "fair" cooler, not even close to being the best, and that is your problem. The fan design is good, however, the fan is set to run quietly [slower than many] because most people want that, but it hampers cooling. For your AMD CPU you need a better air cooler and good case cooling to have lower temperatures.

EDIT: Hover your mouse over my icon and you will see an example of a good air cooler.
