This is just in regards to passmark. From what I've seen in 98% of places it looks like an R9 290 outperforms the 780 in most areas, with the exception of editing due to cuda etc.

Then why is the 780's passmark so much higher than the 290? Confusing to me

Solution
Short answer; Passmark favors Nvidia.

On purpose? probably not.

Passmark runs in window mode for starters, this throws out any and all dual gpus as crossfire is not gonna work.

They use heavy tessellation, which AMD is not hugely great at for most of those revisions.

The scores are very scewed and shouldn't be used as a guide for GPU selection by any means.

Passmark, in their defense, doesn't run tests; its just an amalgamation of results they received from users.
