I am building my first gaming computer and could do with some advice on the parts I have chosen.

Hi, I am thinking about building my first gaming computer, the budget is £700 if possible but I can probably go to a little over £800 if needed. The parts I am thinking about are:

CPU: Intel i5 4690k
GPU: EVGA GeForce gtx 960
mobo: Gigabyte z97X gaming 5
PSU: Corsair CXM 600W modular
CPU cooler: cool master 212 EVO
RAM: 8gb HYPERX fury DDR3 1600MHz
HDD: 1tb seagate barracuda ST1000DM003
Case: Sharkoon BD28 ATX (green)
OS: Microsoft windows 8.1 home
Thermal paste: Noctua NT H1 thermal compound
Keyboard and Mouse: Logitech wireless combo
Optical drive: Lite on IHAS124-14 24x SATA internal DVDRW black
Wireless networking card: TP-LINK -WDN4800

They are the parts I have chosen, my reasoning for the wireless networking card and keyboard combo is because I am using a 47" TV and don't fancy sitting right in front of it lol and also the modem/router is at the other side of the house, so an Ethernet cable is out of the question. I am mainly going to use this PC for gaming and want to be able to run most games on high to ultra settings if possible. I chose the unlocked version CPU because I may do light overclocking in the future and just want to know that I have the option to do so, do you think the cool master 212 evo can sufficiently cool a slightly over locked CPU? I could do with some help with my CPU and GPU choice, I was wondering if I should look at possibly getting a slightly better graphics card(gtx 970) and a slightly cheaper CPU if possible, was wondering what CPU and graphics card you would recommend? Now I chose that motherboard because because it aparrently comes with a good onboard audio system, but was wondering if I should get a a different motherboard(gigabyte if possible) in green to match my case and just buy a separate sound card. Do you think the 600w power supply is a bit over the top or about right in case I decide to upgrade in the future? I was also thinking about getting a 120gb SSD drive to put my operating system on and a few games, would you recommend this and are there any particular ssd drives you would recommend?

Any other feedback on this PC would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and thanks in advance for your suggestions. :)

Solution
Unfortunately, good advice usually costs money. If you go with the Z97 board, then I would recommend 2400Mhz memory to give a bit more speed.

An mITX system with built-in WiFi might be cheaper over all, and will still do everything you want.
Hi. Lots of questions.

If you want to overclock, then the 4690K is the best budget choice for gaming. Otherwise, if you give up overclocking, you can save a fair bit with a cheaper CPU, motherboard, and you can use the stock cooler.

The Cooler Master 212 Hyper EVO will handle at least a medium overclock on that chip.

For a gaming system you should try to get the absolute best GPU you can afford at the start, because it is always downhill from there.

That is a very good motherboard for gamin and overclocking. A sound card and another motherboard will cost a lot more.

You do not need more than 450W for that combination, but I would get 550W for future GPU upgrades. That is a 'mini-van' CPU for your 'race-car' system. You need a higher-performance PSU. This costs the same, is not modular, but is much more efficient and is higher performance. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1650gts3x

I always recommend at least 240Gb SSD at the moment. Due to parallel access 240GB is faster than 120Gb, and some modern games exceed 40GB. A SSD needs to be about 20% empty for efficient TRIM (garbage collection)

i5 4460/GTX970 would be really good if you can afford it.

Thanks for the quick and helpful response, will have have a look at that psu and ssd drive will also look into getting the gtx 970. Any other suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. :)

You should be able to build a skylake system for an 800 pound budget although adding a 970 makes this difficult. This is what I came up with minus the case and keyboard/mouse. Feel free to suit it to your preferences:
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Fb3MWZ

notes:
ram/mb: i've picked a ddr3 mb because of the $ savings and the selected ram (1600 @ 9) will perform identically to ddr4 2666Mhz @ CL15 +/- 5%. With RAM, latency is as important as frequency.
hdd: wd for reliability.
psu: my corsair cx600 (and it's replacement) died twice in less than one year. seasonic for reliability.

A bit over budget, but includes everything.

Colors mean nothing to me, so you might need to get out your spray paint and mod your case :)

We have fibre optics and the signal to my bedroom is stable, would have to go through floor with cable, which unfortunately we can't do.
