All,

Hoping to get some information on my networking issue. First here is my home network setup:

ISP (Cablevision)
ARRIS Modem
Cisco E1000 Wireless Router
- Home PC connected to LAN port (192.168.1.112 static)
- Wireless printer connected wirelessly
- Switch connected to LAN port:
TP-Link 10/100/1000Mbps 8-Port Gigabit Unmanaged Switch
- My PC connected to LAN port (192.168.1.143 static)
- Samsung smart TV connected to LAN port
- WAP connected to LAN port:
TP-Link Wireless AP (TL-WA801ND)

The E1000 router has DHCP enabled handing out IPs in the range of 192.168.1.100-255

My PC connected to the switch is on the same subnet as the router (192.168.1.xxx)

However I cannot access the router's interface 192.168.1.1 from the PC connected to the switch Why?

I'm also having another issue that I think is related so I'll quickly detail it:

I have my Samsung Smart TV connected to the switch. I run PLEX media player on my PC that is also connected to the switch. The TV gets out to the internet, apps run (Netflix) but it will not see my PLEX media server on my PC. I am able to see my PLEX server over wireless (iOS app).

I'm in IT but networking is my weakest area and I'm still learning.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Here is the network layout. I'm using iiLuzi0n-PC http://imgur.com/nPN6EnZ
Default gateway is 192.168.1.1
Using Google DNS 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 on PC behind switch

I understand your reason for static IP's but change your PC to DHCP and see if you can get to 1.1 and the TV can see Plex server. If your not willing or able to do that double check Gateway/DNS/Wins settings (Wins not used most likely) Also make sure you don't have more than 1 router this could cause your issue as well. NAT would allow internet through but no Lan traffic. So make sure nothing but your main router is plugged into any other Wan ports on any device.
