Graphics card + Monitor confusion

Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my monitor to fit the card I have. My gpu is:

EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Super Clocked ACX 2GB GDDR5

The monitor I am looking into is:

Acer XG270HU 27" 1ms 144HZ WQHD HDMI DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync (Free Sync)

I like the specs of the monitor and was about to pull the trigger when I read a review online stating that the monitor is not compatible with some GPUs and that I could potentially not be able to reach 144hz with my GPU due to it not being compatible with freesynch

Will these two play nice? I'd prefer not to buy a 144hz that is stuck at 60.

•Max Monitors Supported: 4
•240 Hz Max Refresh Rate
•Max Analog: 2048x1536
•Max Digital: 4096x2160
If your going to be gaming on that in about any never game with that resolution your going to get nowhere near 144 anyhow.

It was less about the limitations of the card and more about the reviewer stating some cards to not support freesync and as such would max out at 60hz. Resolution aside, is this monitor able to chug up to 144Hz or am I always going to be restrained to 60Hz because of some potential compatibility issue with my GPU? Apologies if this is an odd question, my monitor is old as sin and I am not savvy to this whole freesync thing.

For what it is worth, here is the review I was referring to:

"Cons: Not compatible with NVidia GPUs
I dont like the red bezel piece

Other Thoughts: So I bought this monitor after being told that this would work with my 980 TI, both from a friend and from reviews on newegg. I should have done my research as Nvidia does not support freesync and has no plans to do so. ("Adaptive sync" works, but the monitor still will not go above 60 hz with an nvidia gpu)"

I don't know about monitors but you should look into the "Soap Opera Effect" relating to TVs. Various methods simulate higher refresh rates but they use duplicate frames. Is it coincidental that 4x60 = 240 Hz for the EVGA card? I don't think HDMI can deliver HD to three daisy-chained monitors simultaneously due to its limits.
Adaptive sync cards would have to be matched with capable monitors.

If freesink is your thing that is from AMD cards.
Freesink has nothing to do with if your card can get 144 with that monitor Freesink is a whole different thing.
OK the 980ti was from a dumb review.

Some will and some wont sturg. At newegg there's 5 or 6 or more in the review section saying they have nvidia cards and the refresh rate is 144 not 60hz.

It is not my thing. I'm just wanting to know of my current card and this monitor can run at 144Hz. The review I posted suggested it could not.
