AMD FX4100 with a AMD Radeon R9 280

I have a AMD FX4100 CPU and looking to pick up a AMD Radeon R9 280 GPU.

Will my CPU bottleneck the new GPU?

Also is the FX4100, still up to modern gaming, aka warhammer:TW? I play nearly all newly released games on medium or high (Rome 2:TW) but im not sure if the let down for the higher settings is my GPU or the CPU (i suspect the former, hence the new GPU purchase) FYI im running 8GB DDR2, with GeForce GTX 550Ti currently.

Finally got some money in to do me a decent upgrade, money is a issue for me here.

Yes, the GPU is the first improvement to make. The R9-280 will be marginal for bottleneck with the FX-4100. But should still be a good combo. The new card will be a major improvement over the GTX 550 Ti. If your motherboard and PSU allows, OC the FX-4100 for some added performance with the new card.

Bottlenecks are dependent on screen resolution . Without knowing that its impossible to predict how your pc will behave .
IMO buy the graphics card . Also consider the possibility of an upgrade to a better more recent FX processor for your mb . The FX 6300 should perform better and is relatively cheap
