I'm a first time builder without a ton of knowledge about parts and efficiency. This is the build I've got going so far, mainly looking to use it for coding, editing, streaming, and gaming. I'm hoping to get some advice on switching parts out, specifically wondering whether it's worth it to upgrade my motherboard or not and whether its worth it to grab the 250g ssd. All other advice is welcome of course. Thank you!

Solution
I would get a Z170 motherboard to take advantage of the unlocked multiplier/overclocking of that i5-6600k and the overclock RAM speeds. The B150 mobo's do not support multiplier overclocking (only BCLK) and has limited RAM overclocking.

If coding and editing work is related with 3D rendering/game development and serious multi-tasking work, I would suggest the i7-6700k to take advantage of the hyper-threading technology (4 core-8 threads). The i5 does not have HTT (4 core-4 threads). But if this rig is mostly for gaming (85% gaming, 15% multi-tasking), then the i5 is a good choice for price-performance as you won't be needing that 8 threads in gaming.

The Samsung SSD is a good choice having one of the fastest effective speed in the market today. The 120GB capacity would only fit your OS and some selected frequently-used applications and programs. I would advise to get a 250GB for more storage space and much faster effective speed compared to the 120GB variant. Price-performance wise, the 250GB is a better option than the 120GB if you can afford it.

I would rethink about the EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W PSU, despite it's 80+ Gold rating and a reputable manufacturer in EVGA, this particular series (NEX Series) is categorized as Tier-4 (Low/Poor Quality/Inefficient/Unsafe) due to the components used in that power supply. If you want a better-quality (Tier-1 or Tier-2) of the same brand (EVGA), get the Supernova G2 or GS series.

Just my 2 cents.
