Hi!

I was playing planetside 2 the other day, great game and its a very CPU intensive game. So my question is, How hot should the liquid in liquid cooled computer be? When i was playing planetside 2, my i7 3770k was at 50% load and it was 52 degrees Celsius average, and the liquid was 34-35 degrees Celsius, is this all good? I do live in Australia, so my liquid temp is higher then normal , because summer time weather has already arrived. Thanks!

Solution
probably about normal, the liquid is obviously going to be hotter than the ambient temp when under load. What specific cooler is it? mine hits 67c under 100% load at 4ghz, but that's with a conservative fan curve too, since my typical gaming load is never 100%, couldnt tell you what coolant temp is, i dont think mine has a coolant temp monitor. If you want it to run cooler you can increase fan speed or change the target temp so it's lower. But 52C is no problem for that cpu, and 34C wouldnt be an issue for the coolant.

Well, Australia (WA) has very hot summers... Very dry in Perth. :) Tends to overheat.

Anyways, Thanks all! Thanks for all your replies!

H100i Liquid cooler. I really want to upgrade, its showing its age, Do you recommend any good decent sized Closed looped coolers? I have a massive case (Chaser Mark 1), so can fit a large radiator.

The h100i is still a pretty large all in one(dual 120mm fans). Next step up would be something with 2x140mm fans instead of 2x120mm.

It you want more performance and do not mind building it a custom loop may be a better option. You could have rads all over. You will never get down to room temperature, but with more area to dissipate heat it would run cooler.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Ive been looking at the H110i (280mm), and the Thermal take Water 3.0 Ultimate (360mm), Is it worth the Water 3.0/H110i or just stick to my current H100i?

You may be able to get similar or slightly better with the H110i, but it is not a big step up at all.

For the most part I am not sure if you are saturating what the cooler can handle yet. The larger 360mm wide unit can disipate more heat(faster), but it is questionable if it is worth it with your temperatures well in the safe zone. It gets harder to get temperatures much lower at some point.

Many reviews show high end air coolers within 5 or so degrees of these all in ones. I still have an H80i(all that fits my case). an NH-D14 is every bit as good as this cooler and maybe better, but for space savings the H80i has worked out well for me.

well look, your getting 52C under gaming load, you have another 15C temp increase before you even have to start worrying. IMO not worth getting another cooler. I actually just took my pc apart and couldnt believe the dust matted on my rad. cleaned it out and i can actually feel air coming through it now. Maybe you should just look at giving it a clean and re-seating your block with new thermal paste, it can do wonders. If the unit is more than 5 years old though, you may want to consider swapping it out. But as others have suggested, the next step up from a 100i is really custom. If you were going to replace it with another AIO cooler i would look at NZXT's offerings: https://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/147-kraken-x61-liquid-cooler.html
If for nothing else, for the brilliant software that comes with it. I was going to get the 120mm version but my CM sedion 120v was half the price at the time....
