There's a quite long distance between my monitor/keyboard/mouse and the computer so I use long cables and extenders. My plan was to only use one USB extender by plugging in an USB hub to it and connect the keyboard and the mouse through it. It worked, but the mouse(and less frequently the keyboard) reconnects every hour or so.
Now I have another USB extender and don't need to use a USB hub. Removing the middle man(USB hub) between the USB extender and the mouse should allow it to work with less obstacles right?
But I get the " Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" message for the mouse. The keyboard worked just fine through the USB extender. Connecting the mouse directly to one of the USB ports on the computer also works without any problems, but it's not an option here since the lack of space in the room doesn't allow me to have the computer closer to the monitor and the rest.
I tried the same extender that I use(d) for the USB hub, but it failed. I tried the other extender, and it also failed. I used different ports, USB 3.0 and 2.0, but they failed.
The mouse is a Corsair M65, so I downloaded it's driver...it still didn't work.
I checked the Device Manager and tried to install the driver for the Unknown USB Device, and it failed.
So...any solutions?
Surely a mouse should work through an USB extender? Especially if it worked through a non-powered USB hub connected to that same USB extender?
