DDR3 is still the "mainstream" ram, it will take long time before it is outdated.
and DDR4 does not affect the perfomance that much in terms of gaming, yet.
you will be fine with ddr3 in the next few years still. no worries there.

Look at it this way, I am still running a processor from 2009... And it still has years left in it.
Take for example the 3770k processor, it is still a much better performer than the 8320 for example, even with its age it can keep up with any task given to it.
The 4790k is a great processor, it will last you no question.

Yes, it is a top of the line processor. Just because Intel releases a new motherboard socket, it doesn't mean that great strides are being made in processors. It is just marketing.
I would not worry about the RAM. The DDR3 memory standard is going to be around for a long time. DDR4 is just getting started. DDR3 will be around for quite some time to service the last five years of motherboards.

yes, the processor you have (4790k) has a lot of power under the hood, you have absolutely no need to worrie that you will be outdated in the next few years.
the performance increase to the new generation is not that much of a leap when you talk about cpu´s.
