BSOD "Memory Management" after adding an identical set of DDR3 sticks

Hi,

I'm having a problem with a new pair of DDR3 sticks:
- Win7 x64 Ultimate
- motherboard MSI Z87 Gaming
- old sticks Crucial Ballistix Tactical Low Profile 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 UDIMM RAM BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0

Was using them for a couple of years, no problems at all, even under heavy RAM use (100% RAM utilisation). Decided to upgrade RAM and bought an additional set of 8GBx2 sticks of the same model (BLT2K8G3D1608ET3LX0). Installed, flashed BIOS for the latest version... and getting constant BSOD after 2-3 min of use.
- Memtest 5.1+ passed without errors, Win Memory Diag tool also shows no errors.
- Tried using different XMP profiles, no profiles (all auto), etc - same 2-3 min after Windows boots and BSOD
- Sticks are set in 1-3, 2-4 slots (old set, new set)

Kind of stuck here, would appreciate your help
Thanks!

- Flashed BIOS one more time
- Voltage is per specs (1.35v)
- I thought about dust affecting performance and I removed all the dust prior to installing new hardware

Ok... Some update on the issue (caught a BSOD while updating BIOS, so needed some time to take mobo to service)
- If I remove both new sticks, everything is working fine, no resets, no BSOD
- If I remove just one stick (either of them), still receiving BSOD with 100% probability
- Tried setting 1333 Mhz speed, it worked fine for an hour, then started resetting every 5 min again... so no help here

I'll take the sticks back to the shop, and get a new pair... maybe more luck with a new set

Yep, I'd suggest that.

New memory sticks, but same old BSOD
- 100% chance of a BSOD
- Instead of a "memory management" error, now PC just freezes
- ... or crashes with "This was probably caused by the following module: dxgmms1.sys (dxgmms1+0x32FD4)
Bugcheck code: 0x1000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF880105DDFD4, 0xFFFFF880040D2758, 0xFFFFF880040D1FB0)
Error: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M"

If I take the new sticks out and leave just the old ones - ok, no problems, all is working....

Really stuck here...

Accordin to WhoCrashed:
Bug check description: This indicates that a system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

Will definitely try the voltage trick.
The problem is that I have an identical set of sticks - exactly the same part number (bar code)... and it's the second pair of 16gb (8x2) kit that leads to exactly the same issues... feels like I am either missing something or it is a faulty motherboard....

When you can take sticks right off the assembly line and they won't play - well that sort of explains it. DRAM manufacturers take the sticks and test them to ensure those that go in a package will play nice. Thats why a 4 stick package generally cost more than a pair of two stick packages, it takes long (more testing) to find 4 sticks that will play nice than it does to pair up 2 sticks that play. This is a common myth (see article above) that all DDR3 is the same

no luck with higher voltage. Raising the DRAM voltage still gives no effect, machine keeps freezing after 3-5 min after Win login.
Strange enough, ran memtest 5.01 under default settings for 10+ hours - not a single mistake... So how can it be that I can run memtest for 10+ hours without freezes/reboots and have 100% chance of a freeze/BSOD in Windows 7 Ultimate??

Is there anything else I could try before taking the sticks back to the store? Will prob just refund them and take the money

Thanks for the advice, but no luck with the action above. Even tried switching places of the sticks, from 1-3 & 2-4 to 1-2, 3-4, 2-4 & 1-3...

A little update: I tried raising DRAM voltage all the way up to 1.5V. No change in behaviour, resets with 100% probability
Will be returning them back, looks like I'm stuck with 16gb RAM... unless I order 4*8Gb Kit
