I have recently built a PC for the first time and i'm using a maximus vii ranger mobo. I purchased HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit and when putting them in they worked fine. However when I looked at CPU-z it was showing as running at roughly 1600MHz each.
XMP setting is already on as the mobo has been overclocked professionally.
I went into bios (and I am new to this so never done this before) and I found a setting called DRAM frequency showing 1600mhz, so I changed it to 1866MHz and saved and restarted but the computer just wouldn't work then. So I reverted the changes back.
Now I know I should be able to use these at 1866MHz using XMP but i'm guessing there must be more settings to change than just that one.
Can anyone help me?
