here are my pc specs
MB - Asus P5kpl-vm
PROCESSOR - Intel Pentium Dual CPU e2220 @ 2.40ghz
RAM - 3gb
OS - Windows 10 pro 32 bit
GPU - Geforce gt610

i recently found out that i have a 64 bit capable processor .
i had not researched earlier because my pc came with a 32 bit installed os and i thought that my processor did not support it

i have 2 questions and i need someone to help me with that

1. firstly how outdated is my motherboard . i know the fact that my processor is very outdated since there are 4 ghz processors available now but how do i determine if my motherboard is outdated ?

2. am thinking of installing a 64 bit os
can i install that os keeping my 32 bit windows 10 ( as dual boot type )
i just want to check everythings fine and later i will install 64 bit windows 10
IF YES then how ?

THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!!

OTOH, only the top-end, premium, unlocked Skylake processors have been released yet, so a Skylake system performs only a little better than Haswell, but costs a decent amount more.

your motherboard and CPU and RAM are outdated to play year-old games, and your PSU may be a bit light too,

I would be planning a full re-build with mostly new parts.
Hi

while the motherboard/cpu is old (approx 2009)
If you dont play games or do video editing or run CAD programs

and use it for MS Office and browsing the internet
then there is no need to upgrade

Since you have only 3GB of RAM there is no point in installing a 64 bit version of Windows
If you want to put Windows 10 (64 bit) in a seperate partition or hard disk that is possible

BUT you will need to buy another Windows licence unless you have a spare retail Windows 7 or 8 to install first then upgrade to Windows 10
(the one you upgraded from is not spare and should not be used again except to downgrade back from Windows 10)

You cant upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit Windows, you have to format the old Windows (32 bit) partition before installing the 64 bit verson, so all programs (and data on C:) is lost and has to be re installed

This 64 bit upgrade probably not worth while unless you have 4GB or more DDR-2 RAM

To figure out if a system is outdated, the best way is to know what you need to run and how fast you want it to be. It's indeed slow comparing to today's technologies, but if it works well and satisfied your needs, it's good.

On the other hand, you could also choose to update the processor and memory of the system to make it significantly faster. Or you could also just build/purchase a new system featuring Intel's 6th generation Core processor, i.e., Skylake, to get the very cutting edge technology you can get now.

Since it's already a fairly old PC and you want to play some fairly new games released just last year, I will recommend to build a new system based on either Haswell or the latest Skylake processors. Both will run great, but it's now the best time to catch up the latest Skylake processor and a motherboard that supports it because Skylake is literally just baked and fresh out of oven! A newer processor and it's platform is like a newly design car that offers the best of the latest technologies that will last many more years to come.
