Why is the XMP Profile option greyed out?

I'm using the UEFI BIOS on a Gigabyte motherboard.

I got some new RAM, and now get BSOD errors when I wake the computer up from sleep.

The manufacturer and you guys here said to try enabling the XMP profile.

But in the BIOS the XMP profile setting is greyed out and disabled. It can't be changed.

Does this mean the RAM doesn't support XMP? Or is there something else I'm missing to get it to let me change the setting?

Thanks for the reply!
I'm mostly hoping to troubleshoot the XMP option being greyed out as I haven't found a thread that actually addressed the issue...

But if you know the solution to the underlying problem, here's the specs.

Windows 7 64 bit.
Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model 997002
GIGABYTE GA-H81M-DS2V Motherboard (I don't know what BIOS version I have).
Intel Core i5-4590

I'm using only the two new chips, haven't gotten any help from Mushkin, yet it passes Memtest86 tests.

I got the memory on sale to put in an old AM3 computer, then I remembered people saying AM3 won't support faster than 1333 MHz so I've tested putting the memory in my main computer.

The three BSOD errors I get have to do with trying to access invalid memory locations and faulty hardware. I was going to try putting the old RAM back in and if that worked see if I can get Mushkin to replace their chips.

That's what I suspected, but I can't find anything.

Even if I manually change the RAM settings they don't actually change. CPU-Z still reports the RAM as running at the default settings, which are slightly off from the manufacturer's suggestions.
