I've had a notification to update my USB drivers for close to two years now, but updating the drivers causes the old drivers to uninstall first, then the install begins. The problem is there is an OK prompt that needs clicked before the install begins and at that point I don't have a keyboard or mouse anymore since the old drivers uninstalled.
In the past this has never been an issue because as I recall, the default Windows USB drivers took control in that period while updating my motherboard's official USB drivers.
No, I don't have a PS/2 mouse or an adapter and no, I don't have nor do wish to obtain a USB add in card just to update my motherboard drivers.
I've looked for a solution to this every 4 or 5 months when I get another batch of driver updates from my motherboard manufacturer update utility, but never find anything useful other than "get a PS/2 mouse or a USB add in card."
Is there another solution to allow the mouse to continue working when the motherboard USB drivers are uninstalled? I've even rebooted after the uninstall thinking that Windows would auto detect the mouse/keyboard and start the default Windows USB stuff, but it doesn't.
For the record, I'm updating through Gigabyte App Center and my motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H.
