Most of the questions i've been seeing are really old so im wondering does the nic now a days make any noticeable difference for me (btw i am a heavy gamer/ game developer if that influences anything)

Solution
Depends what you need. If you need 10 gigabit for your local network then yes you would need a 10 gigabit NIC add in card. Your cable, switch/router and the devices utilizing 10 gigabit has to support 10 gigabit as well.
If 1 gigabit is enough then the onboard is fine.
