I've just received my new graphics card in the post and when I went to plug it in and use it, I found out it does not perform as well as I had hoped. I plugged it into the motherboard and plugged the two 6 pin connectors into it from my 500W power supply and started it up. Before I go any further I should mention that I am not by any stretch of the imagination a wizard when it comes to computers. I just about know the basics so I apologise if I get anything wrong. Here are my computer specs.
Windows 7 64bit
AMD fx 4100 Quad Core Processor
500W power supply ( don't know much more than that )
8gb of RAM
Sapphire R9 270x
Once I started up my computer I put the disk that came with the card into my pc and installed the drivers ( rookie error ). Apparently these drivers were extremely out-dated. So I went to the AMD website to update the drivers. I now have the latest version. Before I do anything, I can notice some colour disfiguration in some areas of the screen, close to the top and the bottom certain streaks of pixels would turn a different fuzzy colour for a moment. This happened quite frequently. I didn't think much of it and I continued on and opened up a game to test out this new graphics card. I opened up CSGO (Counter Strike Global Offensive) And tried to start Match Making. Very very soon (2-3 minutes) after I entered the game I just completely froze. I could still hear the people I was talking to in Team Speak and certain other processes on my computer still worked (to an extent) but CSGO completely froze. It would play back the last sound it heard before it crashed over and over again, like when you play a scratched CD. Almost like it was jolting back and forth. However this game is not on a CD it's on my Hard drive. And this never happened when I was using it with my old crappy graphics card. After about 5 minutes or so the game would just continue like nothing ever happened and then it would do it again 2 minutes later. It might be worth mentioning that for the 2-3 minutes that it did work my fps had increased from what it was before, but not by as much as I was expecting. I hope somebody can help me as I'd love to get this fixed within the next few days or I'm going to have to return it.
