My laptop has an Nvidia GTX 970M in it. I already now know how to make a makeshift desktop graphics card to laptop connector with PCI adapters, so is there any desktop graphics card I can buy that will run SLI with my card. Would any desktop 970 work with it if it also has the 3GB VRAM?

970m is a different GPU to the desktop 970 so it wouldn't work even if you could get everything else working. You can only SLI if your laptop has a removable GPU and 2 mxm slots
