So i ordered a new ram for a friend of mine, 4GB 1600Mhz DDR3 witch is the same specs as the one he has and for some reason it wont work.I have even tried putting in just the new ram,the pc opens but after it loads up it says Repairing your pc and it just reboots over and over untill it finally freezes. My first thought was hes MB doesnt support this ram but that wouldn't make much sense to be honest..tomorrow morning i will go back to his house to update his bios and try again but until then i want to know what you guys think the problem might be.

So you're going from 8 gb to 12gb? There is 2 issues, 1 is adding only 1 module you aren't really adding performance as you are no longer...

So H55M-E33(MS-7636) is his MB

the model number on old memmory is CMZ8GX3M2A16009C

on the new one its CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9.

I also updated his bios but still the pc keeps rebooting when i insert this new ram.I dont know what else to do.

So you're going from 8 gb to 12gb? There is 2 issues, 1 is adding only 1 module you aren't really adding performance as you are no longer running in dual channel. Secondly is that while the specs are the same the model is slightly different and while they "probably" should be the same, they likely are not. Maybe they have a different chip layout or different chips manufacturers. Either way that is the issue.

Ah ok, when I put that model number in I found an Corsair 8GB kit:

It seems that when the PC was built a kit was split up to get that 4GB, as the model numbers are always unique between kit vs single.

Either way you have 2 different models which explains why it doesn't work together. As well Corsair memory at 1600 was not tested on this motherboard, so that particular model you bought may have a compatibility issue, whereas the one you have luckily worked. Either way if you want to go to 8GB I would say buy the kit I linked, or buy another of the new memory you bought. Mixing model numbers sometimes can work but usually doesn't, same with brands of course.

No problem, it may be a bad DIMM or it may just not work with the board, there is no way to tell for sure. Good luck.
