Hi guys!

I recently overclocked my FX8320 to 4000 hertz. I went into the BIOS and disabled Cool 'n Quiet, didn't change the voltage and changed the hertz to 4000.

However, the CPU is only running at 3700 hertz (even while gaming or stress testing). The temperature is good, while gaming around 40 ? and while stress testing around 50 ? . Can you guys help me? If needed, I can make a picture of my motherboard settings. I got my CPU fan speed to 'normal'.

Specs:

Fractal Design Define R5
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P
AMD FX-8320 cooled by Gelid Solutions Tranquillo Rev.2
Sapphire R9 290 4GB GDDR5 OC TRI-X
XFX Pro 550W

yes use CPU-Z always, Windows properties will give a false reading unless you turn off CPB etc. give it a go later and let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your reply! I was checking with windows system properties, when I'm home I'll download CPU-Z and disable core performance boost.

Hey, disabling core performance boost worked for me! Thanks! I think I want to overclock my CPU to 4200 hertz, do you know a good voltage?

its different for every system, increase the clock first and run a stress test, if it fails, increase vCore by +.025v, run test again until stable, increase vcore again if required. Keep an eye on temps as well (62 max).

Similar right to mine, you should be able to get it o 4.4 or 4.5Ghz.
