help with memory problem

i have GA-P35-DS3R motherborad and i pair it with 2*1 GB ram cpuz say Dram frequency 400Mhz i want to put 2GB 800Mhz to have 4gb ram but when try to put 2Gb ram my pc didnt work so i want some help please

that is generally a bad idea because it messes with the memory controller. But sometimes mixing RAM can work however its a gamble. Try the 2GB sticks in by themselves and see if they work just to see if they actually work. Also, if you mix two sticks of RAM with two different frequencies then the RAM with the lower frequency will be the speed that all your RAM runs at

If you want 8GB of RAM, you're better off buying a new kit of 2x4GB RAM. It's the safest option as opposed to adding new RAM to old RAM even if they are the same make
