specs right now are:
single gtx 970, 4690k , rosewell challenger mid case, sli krait edition z97 mobo, 600thermaltake psu 4 years old.

now im all ready to SLI and OC to 4.5 HOWEVER not till i get the money for the other 970 and a better monitor and a 750 psu.

question is if im not OC yet till later on and go with stock fan.. can i wait to put the evo 212 on later? or is that a task later than doin it before i build?
im counting pennys here and looking to save what i can. BUT if its not a hassle to install it later with the 750 psu ill wait for them both till i get cash.
keep in mind this is my first pc build

It has been my experience, if you can install the CM212 EVO during the initial build before putting the motherboard in the case and attaching all of the electrical, fans, RAM, drives etc., it's FAR EASIER to do so now. Sure, the case cutout to mount the backplate for the cooler is nice to have but it will still test your patience to do it that way.
The stock cooler is absolutely fine on the 4690k until you can afford aftermarket later.
Haswell processors do not benefit from OCing nearly as much as say an FX processor does, as their IPC is very strong. You will be good to go to wait on OCin until you can afford the cooler later.
Once you get to that point, it wont be too difficult to install either. If your case has a motherboard cutout on it, you wont have to remove anything other than the stock cooler, as you can access the back of the motherboard around the other side panel. (I personally recommend the CRYORig H7 over the 212 EVO)

If you can wait on doing the OC you can wait on the after market cooler. The 4690k should perform well and you can run it in boost mode without issue. Keep in mid with the CM Evo 212 has a plate you have to attach on the underside of the motherboard so you'll have to pull the motherboard out to add it. Unless you can access via the removal of the motherboard side case panel. Yep all kinds of fun are in store for you later my friend.
