Windows 10 Message Wont Go Away

So when I first built my PC I got a windows 7 USB drive from a friend. It worked fine and then I upgraded to windows 10 on that PC. Recently, I built my new PC and kept only the hard drive. Now I have a message that is always on the bottom right-hand corneer that says "Activate Windows Go To Settings To Activate Windows". It doesnt go away no matter what Im doing (full screen game, desktop, watching videos, etc). How can I get rid of it? Its really frustrating.

You need to buy Windows 10. You can' just use someone elses Windows 7 disc and key and have it for free. Also when you change your hardware Windows 10 matches to the original hardware it was installed on. So even if that Windows 7 key was yours you would still give you this issue.

You need to buy yourself a new Windows 10 license.

It is doing that because you have a whole new PC.
This new PC needs its own OS.

This sucks... I really don't know if its worth spending $100 though just to get a message off my desktop. :(

I am not sure what happens if you try to continue to use it but in the future its possible it will disable features or more, so the problem will not be just a message at some point.

All through these multiple PC's, did you ever purchase an OS to go with them?
No?
Then you need to.

That "Activate" is the least of your problems. Before long, it will annoy you in other ways.

Black desktop. Shutting down once an hour...fun stuff like that.

Just like any other part in your system, a Windows OS is not 'free'.

what if I buy a windows 7 OS. Can I use the key that comes with it to verify my windows 10?

No.
License keys do not work across versions.
You'd have to install the Windows 7, then Upgrade that to Windows 10.
You might just as well buy Windows 10 and avoid all the upgrade nonsense.

And since you put that drive with OS in a whole new PC, you're much better off with a full reinstall anyway.

So i could buy a windows 10 key then enter it in the activation?

Yes, you should buy a Windows 10 OS.

That will almost certainly work with your existing installation.
