It really depends on what you are planning to use this drive for, really. The WD Blue is designed for everyday computing and to deliver solid performance. However, keep in mind that the available 7,200 RPM WD Blue drives are only up to 1 TB. All the available capacities above that are with 5,400 RPM. The WD Black is our performance drive and just like @InvalidError mentioned the 5-year limited warranty definitely gives some peace of mind. That, of course, doesn't mean that you shouldn't always have backups of your data!

The black has faster seek time, higher data transfer rate and five years warranty instead of two or three on WD's other lines.
The question you should be asking yourself is whether these extras are worth it to you. If you are going to install and run programs/games from that drive, the extra performance should be worth it and the longer warranty never hurts.
