Hello

I just got to post with my new computer but my pch temperatures were strangely high compared to other temps
Specs:
Asus maximus hero viii (rev 1.01)
I7 6700k
Gigabyte gtx 970 g1 gaming (rev 1.1)
Xfx pro edition 850w
Raijintek triton aio
Corsair 2x4 gb 2666mhz ddr4 ram (on 2133 now i think)
Zalman z11 plus case
Samsung 951 m.2 ssd
Western digital black 1tb hdd

I have like 5 case fans +2 cpu fans + the side of my case is opened for now
My cpus usual temps are 28-32c under my kind of load (im used to an a6 5400k with stock cooler so im puting the i7 6700k under as much load as i did with that)
But my pch temp is like 38-40c its the highest temp in my system (im on 720p jet so the 970 was like 34-36c max)

Is it a problem if the pch temp is high? I didnt overclock anything

Thank you for your help :)

Yeah i was a bit confused by that as you said cpu temps of the a5 then pch of the 6700k plus i haven't slept in like 18 hours :D.

Anyway, yeah pch temps can hit the same temps as a your cpu. I want to say if it goes into the 80's you'll have some serious issues. For a frame of reference i'm running a z170-a board and i'm hitting 30 celcius. That said my board and you'rs are different.

And temperatures are dependent on your ambient temp. So if where you are it's hotter then where i am thats going to affect the overall temps drastically.

Like me i'm running my i7 6700k with a semi jerry rigged hyper 212 plus. And it's oced to 4.6ghz and i'm getting about 28 c idle. But that doesn't necessarily mean i have a better cpu. It just means...

cpu temps will differ from cpu to cpu. Especially amd to intel. That said i wanna say the tdp max before a 5400k shuts down is about 65 degrees celcius. Where as the new i7 6700k doesn't throttle/shut down till it hits 80. So yes 38-40c idle temps while not the "best" are far from the worst. If thats the temp underload even better. Also i'd look into getting an non stock cooler. Maybe a hyper 212 evo or something more substantial. If you're worried about temps which really you shouldn't be.

Thanks for the reply

I wouldnt like to buy the 212 evo it has much worse results than my cooler
I use the raijintek triton liquid cooler (not stock cooler i used stock cooler for the a6 that i no longer have)
My LOAD temps on the cpu are 28-32 (as much load as i comfortably put on my a6 5400k with stock cooler)
(Lol i got always above 63c with the a6 even when i was just in the bios :D )

The pch is 38-40c not the cpu the cpu is very cool the pch sometimes hits 40c

Jeah sorry for the confusion :D
I dont think my temp can go under 28c as thats pretty much the ambient here xD
I havent oced i dont exactly need it :)

(I think pch should be closely releated to the pemperature of my motherboard thats 33c)

Yeah to be honest i'm actually to lazy to o.c. So i just used the poopy 5 way optimization thing that comes with asus stuff. Where it finds the most stable "setup" for you. I'll do a proper o.c. when i get a few rads set up. Anyway GL with the pc :D
