How to erase a write-protected USB drive ?

You can try a linux live distribution like linux mint (its a graphical user interface) then use its disk management tools to manipulate the drive.

You wouldn't have to physically install the linux distro on your machine, it will run directly from a DVD R/W or USB Thumb Drive.
