My father purchased a Samsung series 56 50inch LED TV last week from a local Best Buy and all the cables appear to be installed properly but every HD channel showing 720p instead of 1080p. Also, the manual states this particular TV has 240Hertz refresh rate but also only displaying 60 hertz at 720p. How would I fix this for him? Thank you for all responses.

Solution
What are watching? Cable TV? Most cable is only 720p.

Also when TV's say 120hz or 240hz, they are really 60hz, then interally they do their own image processing to give that smooth motion effect and thus end up with a 240hz signal but the input signal is usually still limited to 60hz.

Also, a lot of cable boxes have settings to set to 720p or 1080p hidden sometimes in menus.
