I bought new motherboard, ram, and cpu. It works fine from the start (and yes, I already reinstalled my windows), but after my computer is turned off overnight, it wont start IF the hard drive is connected to the power supply. The cpu fan and gpu fan will spin for half a second then restart again, it just keeps on restarting. If I disconnected the hard drive from the power supply It will start fine, it go onto the BIOS settings since it doesn't have a bootable device.

The pc will start fine again after a few tries, it can take a few minutes.

Maybe my motherboard is not compatible with my hard drive ? or maybe the power supply is the problem ? or maybe just a setup in BIOS?

motherboard: Gigabyte H81M-DS2
cpu: i3-4170
ram: 4gb
HDD: Seagate baracuda 180gb

my power supply and hard drive are pretty old btw.

Here's I tried, when I switched back to my old specs(motherboard, ram cpu), it will starts fine, of course it will crashed on windows login, since it's has different drivers. My point is, it works fine with my old specs.

with the newer mb is may be seeing a power surge from the drive and is turning itself off to save itself. if there power surge setting in the bios turn them off and see if the mb post. if it does...then the drive may be pulling a lot of power and may be ready to fail. also use hdtune see if the drive passses and seatools.

Thanks for the reply, guys. I just bought a new power supply (corsair vs450) yesterday, I tried it and my pc boots up fine. After it was turned off for more than 12 hrs, it boots up fine again. So yeah it's my old power supply is the problem.
