A couple of days ago my computer started to act really wierd. It locks up the GUI*, but im able to move the mouse, and if my browser is open im able to surf the internet. Its stays this way for 30 seconds, sometimes minutes, before returning to working properly. I happens several times a day, though it might happen more frequently, when using firefox.

It's a fairly new pc exect for the harddrives. If i take a look at the performance at the task manager, nothing is running at 100% when it hangs. Last time nothing was above 10%

* Im unable to manipulate window size. I can't click minimize, fullscreen or close. The icons for these dosn't change, when i hover over them. The startmenu and taskbar also becomes unresponsive. Im unable to double click any icons on the desktop.

I have tried running anti virus scan, anti malware, ccleaner, registry cleaner and updated windows with no result. I updated all drivers, and im the closest thing to going insane and throwing my computer out the window as i'll ever be.

Solution
Sounds like an OS corruption, or possibly hard disk failure. Try using sfc /scannow in an administrator command prompt, and also checking the SMART values/ running disk check.
(you seem like an experienced user so I've skipped how to do everything, if you need help with that I'll add it as soon as I can)

Hi, thanks for the reply, i did a sfc /scannow, no problems, s.m.a.r.t. values all ok.

I think it is some corrupt OS/Driver/Software issue, but i cant locate it. I am really not in the mood for another reinstall. I was hoping to grab some ssd's at the end of this year, before installing windows again.
